Who is Cardinal Logistics?
From humble beginnings as a freight forwarding company, Cardinal Logistics
is now one of New Zealand’s leading and fastest-growing logistics companies.
We specialise in providing distribution and storage solutions with
a strong focus on grocery products and other FMCGs.
Through predominantly using our own vehicle fleet, we deliver direct from
our Distribution Centres in Auckland and Christchurch to stores throughout
New Zealand on a daily basis. This results in cost efficiencies for our
clients and guaranteed consistent delivery times that ensure their products
are delivered on time and intact.
Company History
Cardinal Freight Distribution commenced operations in 1992 as a freight
forwarder. Our high levels of customer service created an opportunity
for us to expand into the logistics industry, which we did in
1995 with the opening of a 10,000 square foot warehouse.
In 1998, with more clients realising the difference that we could
make to their business, further expansion was necessary and we moved
to a larger facility of 65,000 square feet.
Between 2001 and 2008, we continued to grow our client base, and
with that, our operational facilities.
In 2008, we changed our name to Cardinal Logistics to better
reflect the wide-array of services that we provide to our clients.
With Stage Two of its new Auckland warehouse now complete, we currently
operate out of a state-of-the-art 300,000 square foot facility in Mangere,
which is complemented by a 100,000 square foot facility in Christchurch.
Our team of loyal staff has now grown to a 120-strong workforce and are
like a family, according to Managing Director Tony Gorton. “Many of the
dedicated team have been with me for a number of years – they enjoy working
for a proudly-New Zealand owned and operated company that offers continual
learning, growth, promotion opportunities and a competitive remuneration

Company Mission
When he founded Cardinal Freight Distribution in 1992, Managing Director
Tony Gorton’s vision was to build an organisation specialising in Third
Party Logistics and distribution of grocery and FMCG products that would
become a leader in its field.
In a mere 16 years, he has turned this vision into reality by focusing
on three key areas – people, resources and technology.
The team of dedicated professionals at Cardinal Logistics, supported by
cutting-edge warehouse management technology and state-of-the-art facilities
have driven the industry’s service standards to new levels.
Cardinal’s vision for the future is to continue to provide logistical
and supply-chain management solutions for its customers.
The solutions will be driven by our key market advantages of flexibility,
innovation and maximum efficiency of systems while continuing to focus
on those three key areas of people, resources and technology.
